MEET THE TEAM

Pam & Scott Watson
Business Owners
From the moment I (Pam) was offered the position of venue manager at Appalachian View, I knew I had found something special. Cathy and Dale welcomed me like family, and this place quickly became home. Now, my husband Scott and I are honored to continue their legacy as the new business owners of Appalachian View.
Born and raised in Avery County, it brings me so much joy to showcase our beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains as the backdrop for such meaningful celebrations. Scott and I have been married for 35 years, and being married to the love of my life has shown me just how meaningful a wedding day truly is.
We’ve raised three wonderful children—Chelsea (married to Jacob), Chase (married to Summer), and Chance—and are now blessed with five precious grandchildren: Watson, Tillie Mae, Raylan, Griffin, and Hagan. This venue isn’t just a business to us—it’s a place we hope our own kids and grandkids will grow to love as much as we do.
It’s a true blessing to play a small part in every love story that unfolds here. From the very first tour to the wedding day itself, our heart is to make every couple feel like they’re part of the Appalachian View family. We’re here to support, guide, and celebrate alongside you every step of the way. It’s been a dream come true—and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Amanda Benfield
Venue Manager
Hello, I’m Amanda I count it a blessing from the Lord to be apart of Appalachian View – a truly special wedding venue nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, a place l’ve been blessed to call home all my life.
My journey here began over three years ago, and from the moment I first stepped onto the mountain, I was in awe. The beauty of this place is unmatched – but what makes it even more special is the personal connection I have to it. After I joined the team, my son and daughter-in-law chose to get married here, and watching their day unfold against these stunning mountain views deepened my love for what I do.
Before becoming manager, I spent years helping friends and family plan, decorate, and coordinate their weddings. Being able to bring that passion into this role is a dream come true. I genuinely care about every couple I meet – from the first tour to the final dance, I’m here to make sure their vision comes to life in the most beautiful way possible.
At Appalachian View, we don’t just host weddings – we help create memories that last a lifetime. I’d be honored to be part of your story.
Before Appalachian View became one of the most beloved venues in the North Carolina mountains, it began as a dream.
The Legacy Behind Appalachian View
In this video, you’ll hear directly from Cathy and Dale Buchanan—the original visionaries behind the venue—as they share the heart, hope, and purpose that inspired them to build this one-of-a-kind property from the ground up (Gragg Construction & Design).
We’re honored to carry forward the legacy they so thoughtfully created—a place where couples can slow down, soak in the views, and celebrate life’s most meaningful moments.
This video not only showcases the full beauty of the property—from the venue and pavilion to the cabins and ceremony spaces—but also gives a glimpse into the love and intention that built it.
We invite you to watch, dream, and imagine yourself here.
